A canvas of Banksy’s “Girl with a balloon” (2016) “self destructed” itself during an auction on Friday in London.
According to Hyperallergic.com, witnesses say they were “completely confused” when an alarm from the canvas went off as the gavel struck down, ending in the artwork literally shredding itself in front of bidders.
Banksy took to his instagram to show a photo from the auction, showing bidders in disbelief.

The canvas had been sold for $1.3M.
Reports say that Banksy was most likely nearby with a remote control that set off the alarm.
The frame was also made by Banksy.
