TEXAS- A 1-year-old girl has died after she was left in a hot car by her mother, police say.
The girl was found dead inside of the vehicle on Thursday after her mother believed she had dropped her off at daycare.
The girl’s mother dropped off her other two children, ages 5 and 3, at the daycare center and was planning on dropping her 1-year-old daughter off after she ran errands, according to The Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The mother somehow became distracted after arriving back at her home and never got her daughter from the inside of the car.
Police say the mother left to the gym, ran errands and then went back to the daycare in a different vehicle to pick up her other two children. When she arrived, she asked the daycare for the infant and was told that she never dropped the girl off, which somehow shocked her.
The supervisor went with the mother back to her home and found the girl dead in the floorboard.
She had been in the car from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., police say.
There is an ongoing investigation.
