1-year-old girl dies after being mauled to death by pit bull

OHIO- A 16-month-old girl has died after she was mauled to death by a relative’s pit bull.

Kavay Louis-Calderon was attacked by one of two pit bulls at her family’s home after her uncle stepped outside Sunday morning, WJW-TV reported.

The uncle was reportedly arguing with a woman on the front porch.

“The little girl was left inside the house with the two family pets and as this disturbance, fight, was occurring outside, it’s believed that the dogs reacted and turned their aggression to this beautiful 16-month-old little girl,” Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett told the news station.

The toddler was rushed to a Hospital, but was pronounced dead.

The dogs were taken by animal control at the scene.

One of the two pit bulls was known to be viscous and had attacked a postal worker.

It’s unclear if the owner of the dogs will be facing charges.
