(Update) 10 year old boy said “he liked boys” before he was killed

(Update) According the Los Angeles Police Department, Anthony Avalo’s mother boyfriend Kareem Leiva,32, was arrested on wed on suspicion of Murder for the death of 10 year old Anthony Avalo. Police say Leiva had a visible self inflicted chest wound. Police say when he’s medically cleared he will then be transferred to jail. Leiva will be held on a $2 million dollar bail.

LANCASTER, California: A 10 year old boy who died in the hands of his parents may have came out as being gay. According to the Department Of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles, 10 year old Anthony Avalo said that “he liked boys” several weeks before he was found dead. Police are investigating whether him saying he liked boys resulted in his horrifying death. Anthony Avalo was found on June 20th in his home with severe head injuries and his entire body covered in cigarette burns. He died from his injuries the very next day. According to the Associated Press, The Department Of Children And Family Services had made several visits to the home due to numerous complaints of child abuse. Avalo was eventually taken by Children’s services for several months, but he was sent back home. Authorities say the victim’s “mother” Heather Barron and her boyfriend Kareem Leiva have not been charged as of yet.
