12-year-old boy dies after Tik Tok challenge goes wrong; parents beware

OKLAHOMA- A 12-year-old boy is dead after attempting a Tik Tok challenge called “The Blackout Challenge”.

Police were called to an apartment on Tuesday, after receiving a call about an “unresponsive juvenile”. When officers’ arrived at the home, they found the boy with “ligature marks” around his neck, reports KFOR.

The boy was taken to a Children’s Hospital, where he died on Tuesday from his injuries.

“The preliminary investigation leads detectives to believe this incident was not a suicide attempt, but that of a TikTok Challenge or otherwise known as the ‘Black Out’ Challenge, gone wrong,” Police said in a statement obtained by KFOR.

This is now the third juvenile to die this year from attempting to do the challenge.

The “Blackout Challenge” dares people to choke themselves to the point where they pass out in order to get a sense of euphoria.
