12-year-old boy suffer’s severe burns over dangerous “fire challenge”

MICHIGAN- Parents pay attention to this new prank going around that has kids setting eachother on fire.

12-year-old Jason was playing the “fire challenge” with his friends on Sat, when the prank went wrong, sending him to the Hospital with second-degree burns to his chest, stomach and chin. He was hospitalized for four days.

The victim’s mother, Tabatha Cleary, says that Jason and his friends learned about the trending dangerous prank on Youtube.

Jason was at his friend’s house when they attempted the challenge by dousing nail polish remover all over him to set him on fire, before they use a fire extinguisher, but things turned for the worse.

Jason says that the boys just kept pouring nail polish remover all over him before setting him on fire.

His body caught on fire, and the other kids couldn’t put it out. One of his friends drove him home on his bike. Once the victims father saw his son, he began yelling that they needed to call 911.

The victim’s mother was other parents to be aware of this new challenge. She says “I just want everybody to know that these challenges, or whatever they’re watching on YouTube, is not worth risking your life,” Cleary told WDIV-TV. “My son got [second-degree burns], and it could’ve been way worse.”

Child Protective Services were called to the boys house who set the victim on fire.
