TEXAS- A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his grandmother, police said Saturday.
Dallas police officers responded to a call about an abandoned child Friday, the Dallas Police Department said in a news release.
Police learned that an unknown person had dropped off a 2-year-old child at her great-grandparents house. The parents were concerned about the child’s grandmother, who was supposed to be caring for her so they called 911 and requested a welfare check.
Police went to the grandmother’s residence, and found Aime Salinas-Alvarado, 47, with a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators determined that Salina-Alvarado’s teenage son had fatally shot her before he took the little to her great-grandparent’s home.
The teen suspect then took his mother’s car and went to his friend’s house, where he was arrested.
Police say once in custody, the teen allegedly admitted to killing his grandmother.
He’s currently in juvenile detention.
