CHICAGO- A teen boy was shot and killed Tuesday as he was walking home from school, police say.
15-year-old Michael Brown was heading home from school when a teen gunman got out of a SUV and shot him multiple times. Brown was struck multiple times in his head, reports ABC 7 Chicago.
After Brown was shot with about 10 rounds, he was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police tracked down the two teen suspects, ages 15 and 16, about 30 minutes later. They had both allegedly hijacked the SUV they were in, according to a press conference.
The 16-year-old suspect was identified as the alleged shooter.
It’s unclear if the unidentified teen suspect knew the victim, but police did say the killing was “targeted”.
The 16-year-old suspect will be charged as an adult with first-degree murder and one count felony count of vehicular hijacking, aggravated with a firearm.
The 15-year-old is expected to be charged with possessing a stolen vehicle.
Brown was described as a dedicated student who looked forward going to school.
