19-month-old baby killed by family dog, father is charged
BROOKLYN, NYC- An 19-month-old baby is dead after being mauled to death by his family’s dog on Tuesday.
Police responded to a call of a dog attack at an apartment building around 10:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the baby bleeding from multiple wounds to his neck and shoulder, the NYPD said.
The baby, identified as Ryan Francis Foster, was taken outside by his brothers as they were seeking help.
He was pronounced dead at a near-by Hospital.
Foster was left at home with his older brothers, ages 11 and 9, along with their Rottweiler after their father left to work.
The dog was removed from the home.
Authorities say the dog had attacked one of the older brothers about 2 years ago.
The father, Vernon Foster was arrested on Wednesday, and has been charged with manslaughter, acting in a manner injurious to a child and criminally negligent homicide.
