CHICAGO- Two Chicago police officers were shot on July 4th as they were attempting to break up crowds of people setting off fireworks.
A sergeant was grazed in his leg and a commander was shot in his leg around 1:30 a.m. in the West Side of Chicago, police said in a statement.
Both officers were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
There were no arrests.
This is the 33rd time that an officer has been injured or targeted in Chicago this year alone.
