5-year-old boy accidentally shoots and kills his mother

ARIZONA- A mother died on Friday after her 5-year-old son accidentally shot and killed her.

According to a press conference from the Casa Grande Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence at an apartment after receiving a call about a shooting on Sept. 3.

When police arrived inside the residence, they found 38-year-old Michele Cox with a single gunshot wound to her chest, police say.

The victim’s boyfriend was home at the time of the shooting and Cox’s other three children, who were all unharmed.

Cox was airlifted to a Hospital, but was pronounced dead the same day.

Police believe that Cox’s 5-year-old son found a handgun in the home and accidentally killed his mother. There is an active investigation.
