INDIANA- The body of a 5-year-old boy who was found stuffed in a suitcase with a Las Vegas design by a mushroom hunter in April has been identified and now police are searching for his mother.
The boy has been identified as Cairo Ammar Jordan from Atlanta, and his mother, Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, is now wanted on murder charges, Indiana police said in a press conference.
Anderson also faces charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice.
A second suspect, Dawn Elaine Coleman, was arrested on Oct. 19 and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice, police said.
Coleman and the boy were not related.
Authorities say Cairo died from electrolyte imbalance, most likely due to gastroenteritis or diarrhea vomiting that resulted in dehydration.
He was dead a week before his body was found and was never reported missing.
Police say Anderson and Coleman’s fingerprints were found on the suitcase.
