WALTERBORO, S.C. – A 5th grade student at a South Carolina has died after getting into a fight with another student and not enough details have been revealed.
Raniya Wright fell unconscious after fighting with another 5th grade student on Monday at the Forest Hills Elementary School. She died two days later at the hospital but the school district isn’t providing enough details as to how Wright fell unconscious.
According to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the school staff called 911, adding that even though Wright had had collapsed and was unconscious, she was still breathing at the nurses office .
What is known, is that the student who was involved has been suspended, and authorities are investigating what happened. The student’s sex, gender and name have not been released to the public, this is most likely because the student is a minor.
Parents who were at a board meeting told WSOC-TV that teachers have a system in which they stray away from separating students, in fear that they could harm themselves and the student’s in the process and that upset parents.
