CALIFORNIA – The six men who found dead inside of the Mojave Desert this past week were killed in a dispute over marijuana, police said.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the killings, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said at a press conference.
“For all intents and purposes it looks like illicit marijuana was the driving force behind these murders, and that’s all we really know at this point,” Sheriff Shannon Dicus said.
All six men died from gunshot wounds.
Four of the victims have been identified as Franklin Noel Bonilla, 22, Kevin Dariel Bonilla, 25, Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, 34 and an unidentified 45-year-old man who identity is being withheld “pending next of kin motivation. ”
They were discovered in the El Mirage community after one of the men called 911 on Tuesday around 8 p.m. The caller told police that he was shot but did not know his location. After police were able to track his phone’s location, they discovered the bodies.
Five bodies were reportedly found Tuesday night and the sixth on Wednesday morning.
