6-Year-Old Boy’s Death Ruled A Homicide; 3 Family Members Charged

CHICAGO- A 6-year-old boy who was found dead in the freezing cold on Saturday was killed in a homicide, police said.

Three of Demari Perry’s family members were arrested for their connection to his death.

The family members have been accused of forcing the boy into a cold shower on Dec. 30 where they made him stay until he vomited and passed out, reports the Fox.

Police say they also failed to seek medical assistance for the boy.

When he died from his injuries, they allegedly dumped his body near an abandoned house. His pending cause of death is hypothrmia, but he also had other injuries.

Demari froze to death before his body partially burned from “charring”. His organs were also frozen, according to a coroner.

Police discovered his body naked and wrapped in a plastic trash bag.

The family is accused of lying to police and the media after claiming the boy vanished while his teen sister was sleeping after bringing him to a party.

Damari’s brother, Jeremiah R. Perry faces charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child under 12, concealing a homicidal death and obstructing justice.

Police also charged Jannie Perry, 38, with first-degree murder, and a juvenile family member is also facing charges.
