Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son charged in alleged stabbing of elderly neighbor

ORANGE COUNTY- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son has been charged, after allegedly stabbing his elderly neighbor.

The Orange County District Attorney’s office announced on Tuesday, that Adam Abdul-Jabbar, 28, was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, three enhancements of inflicting great bodily injury and one count of carrying a dirk dagger.

Abdul-Jabbar is being accused of attacking his 60-year-old neighbor over a dispute about a trash can. The alleged assault took place on June 9th, when the neighbor had asked Abdul-Jabbar to take out a trash can for his elderly roommate.

The alleged victim, Ray Winsor, told KCAL that Abdul-Jabbar then told him “He said, ‘Shut your mouth, I’m gonna stick a knife through your teeth,” adding “I said, “Really?” because I thought he was only joking. I’ve known the kid for a long time.”

Winsor then said that Abdul-Jabbar then began punching him, and after the fourth punch, Winsor told KCAL “I felt a very sharp pain and noticed blood coming out of me, and then I had one to the top of my head, and I was trying to get back to my house and he was in front of me.”

Winsor suffered bleeding from his brain, a fractured skull and other multiple injuries.

Abdul-Jabbar was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, three enhancements of inflicting great bodily injury and one count of carrying a dirk or dagger and three enhancements of inflicting great bodily injury.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 9th. If Abdul-Jabbar is convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
