Body found is identified as missing ASU student

ALABAMA- A sophomore from ASU, that had been missing for a week, has been found dead.

The body of 22-year-old Adam Dowdell Jr., was found around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, according to Montgomery and ASU police. The body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, and later identified as Dowdell.

According to the Birmingham News, Dowdell was last seen walking out of his dorm late Tuesday, with another student to withdraw cash out of an ATM, according to the Birmingham News.

Dowdell’s siblings say they last spoke to him on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, they began receiving messages from the student’s friends, saying he hadn’t returned to his dorm, or contacted anyone at the college.

Adam’s mother says he left his phone charger, and book bag, which is something he wouldn’t have done. His phone’s location was also turned off.

The story also takes a weird turn, when Dowdell’s mother says that as the family were posting missing fliers of the student in Montgomery on late Tuesday, they were allegedly shot at.

It’s unclear, if police have interviewed the student that Dowdell was last seen with, or if any arrests have been made.
