OHMAHA- A white bartender who was indicted for the death of a black protester has committed suicide.
According to KETV-TV, police at the the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a call about a suicidal person on Sunday .
Police discovered the body of 38-year-old Jake Gardner outside of a medical clinic with a single gunshot wound to his head.
Gardner had owned the Hive Bar in Omaha, where protests had begun five days, after the death of George Floyd in May. According to police, Gardner shot 22-year-old James Scurlock after a scuffle.
Gardner was charged last week with manslaughter, attempted first-degree assault, weapon use and making terroristic threats.
