FLORIDA- A woman who was supposed to care for a 3-year-old boy, has been charged with his murder.
Te’Lea Jefferson, 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder and aggravated battery, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
Jefferson is being accused of killing the 3-year-old while he was brushing his teeth.
Authorities say Jefferson lived with the toddler, his 6-year-old and one of their parents, who she was allegedly dating.
Jefferson had initially told police that the toddler had fell off a bathroom sink, as he was brushing his teeth, injuring his head on the toilet but his injuries were inconsistent with her story.
She later confessed to investigators that she threw an iron tire at the boy, after he refused to get down from a bathroom sink. Jefferson said she hit the boy several times, before he tried to run away from her, bloody.
The boy was pronounced dead minutes after arriving at Hospital with Jefferson. He suffered severe cuts to his face, hands and bruises to his leg and arms.
