Man killed after being lured by a “Catfish” he met online; no arrests

TEXAS- A man was killed after he was lured by a “Catfish” in early May and police still have no suspects in custody.

27-year-old Deonte Hicks drove to Houston from Dallas, to spend the weekend with a woman he thought he was communicating with online, ABC 13 reports.

According to Houston police, Hicks was shot and On May 10, at 4:20 a.m., while he was standing in front of his car. He was taken to a Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that two men were seen fleeing the scene on foot.

On Friday, Hicks family traveled to Houston to pass out flyers, hoping it would brings new leads in their family member’s cold case according to ABC 13.

Hicks leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter.

A “Catfish” is someone who pretends to be someone on social media that has bad intentions.
