Rapper Lil Baby to give away 1,000 coats to those in need

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)- Rapper Lil Baby will giving away 1,00 coats to those in need for the holidays.

The Grammy-nominated rapper stuck to his promise after tweeting in November that he would be donating $1.5 from his single “The Bigger Picture” to organizations, people and communities who were in need.

I got 1.5 million dollars to donate off of “Bigger Picture “ I want the money to go we’re it’s needed.

Lil Baby added Birmingham City Councilor John Hilliard to his list of recipients.

“I’m so excited that rapper Lil Baby has chosen to support Birmingham’s District 9 communities. With COVID-19’s critical impact on our communities, I find it honorable that someone with his influence would provide such an essential resource to our residents,” Hilliard added “He is setting an amazing example for our youth. I want to thank him for his willingness to come to Birmingham and spread kindness during these unprecedented times.”

Hilliard has been a representative on the State Democratic Executive Committee for over 20 years.

This is not he first giveaway that Hilliard has made possible for residents of Alabama. He’s done turkey giveaways, fresh food and a mask giveaway.

The “Winter Warm Wishes Coat Giveaway” will be held at One Park, 601 Dugan Ave, Birmingham, AL 35214, on Dec. 28, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.. There will be coats for both adults and children.
