LAS VEGAS- A woman has been sentenced to prison for running down a salon manger over a ditched bill.
Krystal Whipple was sentenced to serve between ten and 25 years in prison for the 2008 death of Nhu “Annie” Ngoc Nguyen.
According to The New York Daily News, Whipple pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in December, which allowed her to avoid a trial on felony murder, robbery, burglary and stolen vehicle charges.
Police say that Whipple attempted to use a fraudulent credit card on Dec. 28, 2018, and when the card was declined, she told the employees at the Nail & Spa salon that she would go to her car to retrieve cash.
Instead of getting the cash for her nails, Whipple got inside of the car and attempted to leave.
The salon’s manager, Nguyen, 51, and a man can be seen on surveillance footage attempting to stop Whipple from leaving.
Whipple can be seen on surveillance footage driving away, as Nguyen is seen waving for her to stop. Whipple then runs Nguyen over with the car, dragging her about 40 feet.
Nguyen succumbed to her injuries and died.
