CLEVELAND- The “Cleveland Strangler” is dead at the age of 61.
Anthony Sowell died from a terminal illness on Monday at the Franklin Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, WJW reports.
Sowell had been on death row after he was convicted of murdering 11 women, all by strangulation. He was sentenced in 2011 for the murders.
Police discovered Sowell’s first two victims in 2009 after they were investigating him for rape.
A daughter of one of the victims Tonia Carmichael, told WJW, “I am glad he is dead.”
