CALIFORNIA- A couple has been charged with murder in the death of their newborn son.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against Marilyn Northington, 28 and Ray Ray Darn, 35, in connection to the death of their 5-week-old son on Feb, 5, the DA’s office announced in a news release.
The couple was also charged with felony assault on a child causing death and felony child abuse.
Darn and Northington were staying at a hotel when the baby became unresponsive and they decided to take the newborn to a Hospital.
Doctors pronounced the baby dead.
The DA’s office says the baby suffered visible injuries which included burn marks on his face, a broken leg, with burn marks on it and the baby appeared severely malnourished.

The Coroner’s office also found bleeding in the brain, broken ribs, bruising on the baby’s thigh, dehydration and a fractured skull.
When the couple was arrested, police found crystal meth and other drug paraphernalia.
Both are being held $2.2 million bail.
The couple’s two other children have been placed in Child Family Services.
