PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT)- A mother has been charged with murder three years after the death of her son.
Quanisha Jesha Fennell, 35, was charged with felony child abuse in the death of her son Keith Stephens Jr., according to the Burgaw Police Dept.
Stephens died on December of 2017. An autopsy revealed his cause of death was blunt force trauma and a lacerated liver.
The medical examiner also noted in his report that Stephens Jr. was found unresponsive on Dec. 1, on the floor by Fennell’s boyfriend.
The toddler was later pronounced at a local Hospital.
According to WECT, Fennell admitted to getting angry and throwing her son during her first court appearance on Friday.
Fennell’s next court date is on March 10.
