LONG ISLAND- (WABC) Police have arrested the alleged hit-and-run driver who fatally struck rapper Nicki Minaj’s father on Long Island last week after he surrendered to police on Wednesday.
Charles Polevich, 70, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a fatality and tampering with evidence.
Polevich struck 64-year-old Robert Maraj as was he was waking in the northbound roadway of Roslyn Road on Friday around 6:15 p.m.
According to authorities, there was a “significant amount of snow” where Maraj was walking.
Polevich was driving north when he struck Maraj. Police say that he got out of his car, witnesses Maraj injured and fled the scene.
Police tracked Polevich’s vehicle down by viewing surveillance footage.
