Officer who pepper-sprayed Black lieutenant is fired

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA- One of two police officer’s accused of pepper-spraying a black lieutenant has been fired.

Police officer’s Joe Gutierrez and Daniel Crocker were seen on bodycam holding Lt. Caron Nazario at gunpoint and pepper-spraying him as he sat in his Chevy Tahoe during a traffic stop on Dec. 5.

Officer’s said that Gutierrez, a member of the US Army Medical Corp, wasn’t complying with them.

In the footage, Gutierrez can seen with both of his hands up in his vehicle.

Police say he was pulled over because he had no license for his new car, but they failed to look for the temporary license plate in the back of his Tahoe.

Gutierrez told one of the officer’s that he was scared to exit his Tahoe, and the officer replied ‘You should be”.

Both officer’s pointed their guns at Gutierrez, demanding he exit his vehicle before pepper-spraying him in the face.

Gutierrez has now filed a lawsuit against both officer’s. He’s alleging that he was racially profiled.
