CHICAGO- A man has been charged with murder in the death of rapper Tray Savage, who was killed last June.
Investigators were able to identify Demitri Jackson, 20, as the the gunman from surveillance video, which showed that he walked with a distinctive limp before and after killing Tray Savage, according to the Chicago Tribune.
It’s unclear what Jackson’s motive was in killing Tray, whose real name is Kentray Young. Prosecutors say that both men spoke to each other for about 15 minutes before the shooting.
Jackson walked back to his car, blocked Young’s car in the middle of the street and began firing at him, before leaving the scene.
Young was shot in his neck and shoulder, causing him to crash into a parked car.
He was later pronounced dead.
Young was signed to rapper Chief Keef & Fredo Santana’s record label.
