TEXAS- The death of inmate has been ruled a homicide by the County Medical Examiner William Rohr ruled, reports KTVT-TV.
Marvin Scott III, 26, died of “fatal acute stress response in an individual previously diagnosed schizophrenia during restraint struggle with law enforcement” on March 14, at a county jail.
Scott was initially arrested for possession of marijuana, before he was taken to a hospital after suffering a possible mental health crisis.
He was then taken to jail where he allegedly was “exhibiting some strange behavior”.
Scott was then restrained to a bed, pepper-sprayed and had a spit hood placed over his head and was kept on him for almost 4 hours.
Seven corrections officers at the Collin County Jail were fired for Scott’s death, but not charged..
The officers included a captain, two sergeants and a lieutenant.
