TEXAS- Blood evidence links an 18-year-old to the killing of his 4-year-old neighbor, prosecutors say.
Prosecutors say that blood from Cash Gernon was discovered on a pair of shoes, a hoodie and a pair of sunglasses that investigators found in Darriynn Brown’s home, according to several news outlets.
Brown, 18, was caught on video footage on May 15, kidnapping Gernon, whose body was found some hours later in the middle of the street with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead.
Brown was also seen on home surveillance footage, returning to the boy’s home, and starring at his twin brother as he slept. Brown was startled and left the home.
Brown maintains his innocence, and his lawyer claims he suffers from mental illness.
Brown was charged with burglary and kidnaping, but now faces capital murder charges.
