LOS ANGELES- Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing rapper Pop Smoke.
The decision was based on LA County District Attorney George Gascon’s polices, reports FOX 11.
4 suspects were charged with the 20-year-old rapper’s death, including an adult and three juveniles.
One of the suspects, 20-year-old Corey Walker, could face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
The Brooklyn Drill rapper, whose real name is Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed on Feb. 19, 2020 during an attempted robbery in the Hollywood Hills.
Jackson, who had rented the Airbnb, posted a photo of himself in front of the home on Instagram, which showed the address.
All 4 suspects were scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, but that has postponed until August.
Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album is set to be released on July 17.
