LOUISIANA- A 12-year-old boy shot and killed a man who broke into his family’s home and threatened to kill his mother.
Police say that Brad LeBlanc, 32, was armed with a pistol during the home invasion when he confronted the boy’s mother outside of her home on June 30.
LeBlanc forced the woman inside of her home, where a struggle broke out between them. Her son, who witnessed his mother’s life in danger, grabbed a hunting rifle and shot LeBlanc.
LeBlanc was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
An accomplice of LeBlanc’s, Johnathan Barker, was charged in connection to the home invasion. He was charged with second-degree murder, principal to aggravated kidnapping and principal to aggravated burglary.
Police say that despite Barker not being directly accused of killing anyone, he participated on the attempted burglary that led to LeBlanc’s death.
A female suspect was also charged with one count of accessory after the fact.
Police don’t plan on charging the boy, but there is an active investigation. The District Attorneys Office will decide if charges will be pressed.
