Taco Bell worker charged for setting fire to store after playing with fireworks

NASHVILLE- A Taco Bell employee has been arrested and charged with arson after she allegedly set a fire after using fireworks inside of the fast food joint which caused tens of thousands in damages.

On Monday, NFD charged Courtney Mayes, 25, with felony aggravated arson on Monday.

The fire was set on July 5 at the Taco Bell and investigators say that surveillance footage shows the employees locking the door to the store, and allegedly running around the store with fireworks.

Employees were then seen going into a men’s bathroom, exiting and then throwing something inside of a trash can.

The employees then went outside of the store, and began recording the trash can before they were locked out of the store. Watching flames rising from the trash can, they called police.

Police arrived and put out the fire.

The employees allegedly caused about $30,000 in damages, and police plan on making more arrests.
