Teens charged in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old boy in The Bronx

THE BRONX, NYC- Two teenage boys have been charged for the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old as he sat in a cab.

Mekhi Williams, 19, and an unidentified 15-year-old boy rode up on scooters to Ramon Gil-Medrano, shooting him once in the head and once in his torso as he sat in a livery cab on E 178 St on July 11.

Police arrested Williams in Saturday. He lives less than a mile away from where Gil-Medrano was killed.

The unidentified 15-year-old boy was arrested in his Queens home on Sunday.

Gil-Medrano survived a another shooting in 2020.

Investigators believe that Medrano’s death may have been in retaliation for the death of a 13-year-old boy was killed earlier that day.

Williams was charged with murder, gang assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a deadly weapon.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with murder and weapons possession.
