MARYLAND- The bodies of a boy and girl that were found dead inside the trunk of their Aunt’s car were dead for months, according to police.
The aunt of the children, ages, 5 and 7, was driving around with their dead bodies for months before her arrest, reports WBFF-TV.
Nicole M. Johnson, 33, was pulled over for speeding and the vehicle she was driving in had false papers.
The bodies of the children were found as the vehicle was being towed away. An officer smelled the odor of decomposition when Johnson was getting her belongings.
Johnson moved a plastic bag, which revealed a suitcase that had maggots coming out of it, and when the officer asked to open the trunk, the body of one of the children was inside.
Johnson has been charged with first-degree child abuse that resulted in the death of a child under the age of 13 and neglect for the deaths of Joshlyn Johnson and Larry O’Neil.
Johnson told investigators she became upset at her niece in May of 2020, sitting her several times, which caused her to fall and hit her head. Her body was put inside of a suitcase.
As for her nephew, she alleges that he got sick two months ago and died. She put his body, along with his sister’s, inside the trunk of her car.
Johnson was caring for the children after her sister gave them up to her.
