CHICAGO- A man and his brother have both been charged for allegedly killing a police officer and injring another person this past weekend.
Emonte Morgan, 21, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and other charges.
His brother, Eric Morgan, 22, was charged with aggravtaed unlawful use of a weapon, obstruction of justice and unlawful use of a weapon.
Officers stopped a vehicle on Saturday with two men and a woman inside when a male passenger allegedly opened fire, police say. Officers returned fire, hitting the passenger who allegedly shot at them.
French’s death is the first fatal shooting of a Chicago officer in the line of duty since 2018 and the first female officer to be killed on the job in 33 years.
