Toddler dies from heatstroke after being left in hot car; mother charged

LOUISIANA- A mother has been arrested and charged after her 2-year-old son died from a heatstroke in 2020.

Natalie Broussard, 28, was indicted last month on a second-degree murder charge in connection to her son’s death.

She was arrested on Wednesday.

Police were dispatched to Broussard’s residence on Sept. 27, 2020. When they arrived, they found her son, Ryatt Hensley, inside of her car dead. An autopsy later revealed that he had died from a heatstroke.

It’s unclear how long Hensley was in the hot car and why, police say.
