NEW ORLEANS- Police are searching for a 911 operator who allegedly hung up on callers.
According to a Facebook statement that was posted on Thursday, New Orleans police have issued an arrest warrant for Precious Stephens on charges of malfeasance in office and interfering with an emergency communication.
Stephens was allegedly “disconnecting 911 calls deliberately without obtaining necessary emergency information or relaying such emergencies to the other dispatchers for aid” when she worked for the New Orleans Parish communications District.
The incidents happened during Stephens’s shifts on on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21, police told NOLA.com. She was fired from her job and her superiors contacted police.
