GEORGIA- A man has been arrested after his gun accidentally went off, killing his neighbor.
22-year-old Maxwell Williamson was arrested after he was cleaning his gun and it accidentally fired a bullet that tore through a wall and into the bedroom of 36-year-old Carlether Foley.
Foley was shot once in her head and died, police say.
Police officers responded to an ‘unknown medical call” on Sept. 25 and found Foley unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her head. They also found a bullet hole in the apartment wall, KTRK-TV reports.
Foley’s teenage son discovered her body in the bedroom.
Williamson’s attorney, Jeff Sli, told police that after the gun went off, he knocked on Foley’s door to check on her but he didn’t get an answer, reported WSB-TV. After leaving a note that said he would pay for any damages, he returned to his home, not knowing he had killed Foley.
Williamson has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. He’s currently being held without bond.
Foley was an aspiring actor who appeared in the “Friend Zone”, Slice O’ Cake” and “Behind Closed Doors”.
