FLORIDA- A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed by police on Saturday after the teen allegedly pointed an air-powered pellet gun at them.
Alexander King was killed after police in Tarpon Springs, Florida, fired 12 rounds at him. It’s unclear if King fired any bullets from his air-riffle.
Police said they received multiple reports of somebody waving a “military-style rifle” at passerby’s, Fox 13 reported.
The teen could allegedly be heard yelling “Shoot me”, according to a video taken by a witness, reports the news outlet.
King was taken to a Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The teen had 22 prior encounters with police, which included arrests for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a school board employee.
The officers have been placed on leave, and there is an active investigation.
