A former Virginia Tech football player who allegedly killed a man he met on the dating app Tinder was indicted by a grand jury on one count of second-degree murder.
Isimemen David Etute will be tried in circuit court on Nov. 1, according to local news outlets.
Etute is accused of killing Jerry Smith on Memorial Day, 2021, after Smith pretended to be a girl named “Angie” on Tinder and matched with Etute April 10.
Smith allegedly gave Etute oral sex, but discovered he was in fact a man and not a woman afterwards. Etute then punched Jerry in the face numerous times, killing him.
Surveillance footage showed Etute leaving Smith’s home on May 31.
