10-year-old boy fatally shot after finding gun in mother’s car

HOUSTON- A 10-year-old boy fatally shot himself after finding a gun inside of his mother’s car.

The boy and his 11-year-old found the firearm and began playing with it after the victim’s mother told them to retrieve something from her vehicle, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police say at some point, the gun accidentally discharged, but it’s unclear who fired the shot.

The victim was taken to a Hospital, where he died from his injury.

Police are investigating the cousin and mother to determine who owned the firearm and who pulled the trigger.
