GEORGIA- A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head as he waited for his school bus, police say.
Lawrenceville Police Department Lt. J. O. Parker says officers were dispatched to the Saddle Shoals neighborhood around 6:30 a.m. in reference to “someone who heard a gunshot and the saw the kid lying in the street”, reports CNN.
The 17-year-old suspect walked up to the 16-year-old, identified as Timothy Barnes Jr, and shot him in the head.
Barnes Jr. was taken to a hospital and placed in critical condition, but his condition has worsened, and he’s now on life support as his brain has been declared dead.
Police arrested Serar Abdi 17, and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, police say.
Detectives believe that Abdi attended the same school as Barnes Jr. and both teens had recently gone some a disagreement of some sort, which is what may have led up to the shooting.
Abdi is currently being held in jail.
