MINNESOTA- A 5-year-old boy was fatally shot on Thanksgiving by a teenager who accidentally fired his gun as he was filming a video for social media with his friends, police say.
Police say they responded to a residence around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a child who had been shot, according to a statement released on Facebook Friday.
First responders attempted to save the boy, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was determined through an investigation that a 13-year-old boy was “handling a gun” inside the home with “several other juveniles” as they were attempting to make a video for social media, police say.
At some point, the teen fired the gun and accidentally shot the 5-year-old boy.
The teen was arrested and there is an ongoing investigation.
