Remains Of Child Found In Duffle Bag Identified; Mother And Girlfriend Charged

OREGON- The remains of a young child found in a duffle bag last year has been identified and the child’s mother and her girlfriend have now been charged.

Police have identified the young child as 9-year-old Haley Mae Coblentz.

The girl had been living with her mother and the mother’s girlfriend in several different locations since 2015. Police say she was never reported missing.

Police arrested Haley’s mother, Shawna Browning, 29, and 34-year-old Lauren Harrison, in Detroit on Nov. 30 after investigators served a warrant for their hotel room and vehicle, according to news release from the Oregon State Police.

Haley’s body was discovered on Dec. 10, 2020 in a forest next to a rest area. Based on the level of decomposition, police said she had died 30 to 60 days before her remains were found.

Browning and Harrison were both charged with manslaughter and are currently being held in jail with no bail.
