NORTH CAROLINA- A high school student was arrested after he was found carrying an AK-47 with a loaded magazine on a school bus, police say.
The student was carrying a pistol-grip AK-47 with a loaded 30-round magazine, according to The Daily Advance of Elizabeth.
The teen’s identity is being withheld as he’s under the age of 18.
Authorities say that the bus driver called an assistant principal after smelling marijuana on the student when the bus stopped at the school around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
The assistant principal told the school resource officer to check the student and found the rifle and marijuana. The student was then taken into custody.
Police say they are seeking juvenile petitions on a number of charges, which include felony and misdemeanor possession of a firearm on school grounds.
