THE BRONX, NYC- A massive apartment building fire killed 19 people, including 9 children on Sunday.
Mayor Eric Adams said the fire is the city’s worst since the Happy Land arson in 1990.
The fire started just before 11 a.m. in a duplex apartment on the second and third floors of the building on East 181st, according to the FDNY.
The residents of the building suffered severe smoke inhalation after someone left the door open to the apartment that was on fire. Many suffered cardiac arrest.
A total of 63 were injured.
