CHICAGO (WGN) – A newborn baby was found dead inside of a duffel bag that was left outside of a fire station.
Authorities say the bag was found covered with snow. A crew cleaning snow off the sidewalk found the bag underneath.
Illinois’ has the Safe Haven Law.
The law allows parents to bring an unharmed baby up to 30 days old to a staff member at a fire station, a hospital, police station or an emergency care facility without any questions asked.
The parent will also not face any charges.
Police are asking the public’s help to identify the person who left the baby.
