TEXAS- A woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to buy an infant inside a Walmart last week, police say.
Rebecca Taylor, 49, was charged with sale or purchase of a child and was released from Houston County on a $500,000, according to Click 2 Houston.
Taylor and another woman are accused of offering $500,000 to buy another shopper’s baby, police say.
The incident happened near Houston. The mother, who was at a self-checkout line with her baby and 1-year-old, told police that two women commented on her son’s blue eyes and blond hair and asked how much he costs, KETK.com reported.
The mother laughed off the comment, but the woman allegedly told her she had $25,000 in her car. The mother says Taylor was with another woman at one point. The mother then called police.
The mother waited for the two women to leave the store, but they allegedly waited in the parking lot and screamed at her that the offer was now $500,000. The mother eventually left.
Police reviewed video surveillance footage which showed what the mother described to them.
