A college student was found dead in subzero temperatures and now authorities are investigating, police say.
SUNY Onesonta student Tyler Lopresti-Castro, 20, was discovered by two transit employees before 7 a.m. on Thursday, lying unconscious on the pavement near a city bus garage, according to reports.
First responders attempted life-saving procedures, and Lopresti-Castro was taken to a near-by hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Lopresti-Castro was wearing just jeans and a sweatshirt when he was found. He suffered from “extended exposure to extremely cold, subzero temperatures” Oneonta Police Chief Christopher Witzenburg said during a press briefing on Friday.
It was 12 below zero on the morning the student was found.
An autopsy is expected to ready by Friday and a cause of a death.
